Good to know in Sevenoaks
Social Care and Health for Sevenoaks is the responsibility of Kent County Council. For a wealth of information on this, have a look at their care and support pages. In the Help To Live at Home section, many choices are available to help you. Within Equipment and Changes To Your Home, it details equipment to help you stay independent in your own home.
Have a day out at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre, a pioneering nature reserve which has a roughly equal proportion of water and land. It includes five lakes and a mixed habitat of ponds, seasonally flooded pools, reedbed and woodlands. It is a spectacular site for birds, but the reserve’s wetland and woodland habitats also support a diverse community of plants, fungi and other animals. The visitor centre houses displays that illustrate the pre-history and history of the site, the creation of the reserve, its habitats and the wildlife that they support. There are touch tables where visitors can handle all sorts of ‘treasures’ including birds nests, feathers and thirty thousand-year-old mammoth teeth. You’ll also find a welcoming café serving hot and cold drinks, Kentish ice cream and a small selection of savoury and sweet snacks.
Visit The Stag Community Arts Centre which includes a theatre, two digital cinema screens, and an alternative performance and conferencing facility.
